Six times a year auction house Van Spengen organises an extensive art and antique auction. On each occasion there are more than 2.500 lots available, including paintings, sculptures, Chinese porcelain and Asian art, old artefacts and applied arts, European earthenware and porcelain, jewellery, silver, antique furniture, carpets and rugs .
There are three ways in which you can bid during an auction:
1) Bidding in the auction room
You can bid by holding up a bidding paddle with your personal number. The paddles are available at reception prior to and during the auction.
2) Bidding in writing
If you are unable to attend the auction you can place a bid in writing. The auction house will then bid on your behalf. We will bid for the lowest possible price up to a maximum amount (ex. 28% buyers premium) that you have set.
You can place an absentee bid on the website once you have created an account and have logged in. You will only need to create an account once.
It is also possible to fill out a handwritten bidding form during the viewings.
3) Telephone bidding
For items with an estimate of more than € 500 it is also possible to bid by telephone. We will contact you during the auction so that you can place your bid live.
Requests to place a bid on the phone can be made via the website or via firstname.lastname@example.org.
When you book a phone line we assume that you will want to bid at least the lowest estimate.
Please notice that our buyers premium is always 28%
